Services for Organisations

SEND support is a difficult and complex arena, with a history of challenges caused by a variety of factors that range from increasing numbers of children with increasingly complex clinical presentation and management, to the administration of systems and funding that span myriad government departments –each with their own unique and complex governance and oversight arrangements.

The first line of support for SEND is usually, rightly, within a child’s education setting. However, with stretched budgets and the ever-increasing complexity of social, emotional and mental health needs of children, there is a sub-group of SEND children with a complex health (either mental or physical) that is placing increasing pressure on individual schools and their resources, as well as local authority education departments and in particular families themselves. The ripple effect of this small but unmet need is great.

Iris, best placed to support

As well as policy and transformation expertise, Gabriella holds independent roles within academic research, specialising in models of care, policy implementation and systems, her areas of expertise include;

How can Iris help my organisation?

We offer a range of different system improvement packages, all of which focus on responding holistically to the needs of children with disabilities and their families.  We take an approach based on systemic resilience, increasing efficiency, cross-sector working and coproduction. Support can be delivered as a whole system transformation piece or discrete one-off pieces of work on specific issues.

System Review Packages

These consist of a full review of all policies and procedures across health, social care and other children’s services and consistency check against national guidance, legislation and best practice. This can be done as a desktop review focused on internal policies and procedures or full review, which includes interviews, focus groups and coproduction with staff, services and families.

Training & Development

We offer both off the shelf and bespoke training packages for a variety of staff from across health, social care and education. Topics covered range from working with people with lived experience and introduction to neurodiversity to making the system work for families and understanding cross-system policy and legislation designed to support you to support families.

Engagement & co-production

Fundamental to our approach at Iris, we work with local communities in everything we do. System reviews include co-production, but we can also provide standalone support to ensure that parents and families are fully and truly involved in everything the system does now and in the future, and that the needs of all children with disabilities are central to system design.
