What is Iris?
SEND support is a difficult and complex arena, with a history of challenges caused by a variety of factors that range from increasing numbers of children with increasingly complex clinical presentation and management, to the administration of systems and funding that span myriad government departments –each with their own unique and complex governance and oversight arrangements.
I have dedicated the latter part of my career to understanding and investigating these systems, with the express purpose of supporting a better systemic response: one that is easier and simpler for the authorities involved (be they health, local authorities or schools) as well as for the families needing their support. Most importantly, my approach is to use the existing legislation, frameworks and processes to provide prompt, holistic and appropriate support that prevents escalation of need.
